Denim

After shopping for 7 hours straight in the biggest mall in the world, Dubai Mall, with one of my closest friends, i realized two things: I am never doing that again because its exhausting and you get lost all the time... And that the new trend this season is denim since i saw it in every shop that i went into.

Say goodbye to the sparkly sequins and studs, although a fair amount of studs is acceptable, dont overdue it like last season.

However, I don't recommend using head-to-toe denim, its either denim jeans, a denim jacket or dress.

My personal favorite denim trend is the micro mini shorts that you really hope dont get any shorter! Try Abercrombie & Fitch for that kind of style.

Supermodel Kate Moss rocking the denim shorts for Vogue.

Although the im-a-wannabe-rocker-so-wear-ripped-jeans style is out of fashion, it is still acceptable to have a bit of it, but just know your limits!

After all, nothing fits better than a good pair of jeans!

Fashion Week at NYC!

The Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in the one and only city of fashion, New York, begins today! From February 11th till the 18th, all of the hottest and trendiest designers are going to be showcasing their new designs under the infamous white tents. Last year, the event was hosted at Bryant Park, but this 2010 they will be moving it to the Lincoln Center.

The schedules for the events are super intense and there is going to be a lot of people working around the clock to make sure that this years Fashion Week is inspiring to customers and aspiring designers, and simply people that love fashion.

There will be many of the greatest designers participating in the events including Project-Runway's, Christian Siriano, Alexander Wang, Calvin Klein, Marc Jacobs, Carolina Herrera, Diane Von Ferstenberg, Nicole Miller and Zac Posen - just to name a few.

But lets not forget the faces that actually work the looks on the runway, the models. This entire production could not be possible without them!

Here are just few of the upcoming starlets that I think will make a big impact during NY Fashion Week:

Chanel Iman, the fresh-faced African American, walking the runway for LAMB, Gwen Stefani is sure to be a regular at the shows.
Melina Querel, i have a soft spot for this girl because she used to go to my school in Dubai. However, i never got a chance to meet her, since she left school to pursue her professional modeling career.

Hanna Johnson, 18, and was spotted in a crowd of over 10,000 visitors attending last years Clothes Show Live event.
When i saw this photo i was mesmerized, i have a feeling that she will go a long way.

Hope to keep you posted on the new trends this year at Fashion Week!

Have a great day everyone xx

Vuitton adjusts its bunny ears!

Louis Vuitton's runway bunny ears are probably the cutest things that i have ever seen!!!

They come in different colors and sizes, and even though they dont necessarily go with the outfit, and i dont recommend anyone going out on the street with velvet bunny ears, they are still super adorable and a nice accessory for the runway.

You can translate these runway bunny ears into a cute, casual, and discrete headband or bow, Blair Waldorf-style.

The object of my desire!

When my friend told me that she could ship me in some clothes from the fashion-savvy British store, Asos, i couldnt of have been happier!
After going through the entire clearance portion of the store for probably an hour and a half, i found the perfect dress.
Imagine this: a purple velvet minidress with a v-neck and plunging back, with those defined shoulderpads. It was simple, classical, and chic.
I couldnt of have been more excited! Plus, the cost was basically nothing... 18 pounds!

Since i had saved up a ton of money in order to splurge on the hottest clothes later on, i had more than enough to get this dress.
My cursor clicked on the color (purple), there was also one in black but i thought that was too common.

Then came the sizes.. Size 10 was available, but thats way to big for me.. Size 6, not available, way to small anyway. Size 8! Thats the perfect one for me. i check its availability. YESS!!!! its in stock!
Im in a hurry to dial my friends number and tell her about the dress, let me remind you that I was probably just 2 minutes on the phone, i move the cursor to 'Add to Bag' and then a little window pops up on my screen:

'Size 8 is not in stock'

NO MORE IN STOCK?! I almost screamed over the phone to my friend. I had checked it two minutes ago! How unlucky do i have to be??
I had just spent an hour and a half on a website looking for the perfect dress, finding it, and then having some random chick take my dress?!

BS! the fashion gods should punish her.

if only looks could kill the woman that took it!

Shopping!

Today after school i went shopping at MOE and since everything is on sale because of the DSF (Dubai Shopping Festival) i went crazy in the 70% off stores!

I started off easy, Calvin Klein, after rummaging through a pile of discount clothes, i found the most comfortable pj pants that went down from around 200 DHS to 65 DHS! The only problem was that they were a size Large and they were huge on me. Like huge, the store lady asked me if i 'realllyyyyyy wanted to buy these pants'. She was so shocked when i said yes haha.

Anyway, after that i continued to Stradivarious, one of my favorite stores, and half of the store was on 70% off and i ran to that section. Its such a pain to have to look over every single item shoved into the hangers since everything is disordered. Yet, i searched until i found a really nice shirt/dress (im not quite sure what it is, but since i like extremely short dresses i suppose that it was a shirt) that came with a thin, blue studded belt that i loved. It was a bit see-through and sheer with a kind of leopard detail all over, and i really liked it! I could imagine wearing the shirt/dress with black leggings and some cute boots or uggs. I checked the price and it was merely 25 DHS! (For a shirt/dress and a belt, let me add) I grabbed the smallest size (medium) and ran to the cashier to pay for the priceless buy.

Fun Patterns

Hey everyone!
Another staple trend this spring are bold, fun patterns on dresses, shorts, and even pants -if you can pull it off-.

It is just another great way to embrace spring and have fun with what you are wearing, cause in the end, if you dont love what you have on, then whats the point?

The dress in the photo above is a great example of such patterns. It also has many of the style points of todays trends: the lace, pattern, and the super-mini dress.
I bought this dress at a small, exclusive store in BA, Argentina, so sorry for those that dont have a chance to shop there!

This look is also seen all over the runways, and although this example is an exaggerated version of bold patterns, you can selectively chose what you like the most out of runway looks and incorporate that into your outfits.

The Tux!

My friend and i fell in love with the Spanish store, Zara, and we spent an insane amount of hours in it.
Its ridiculous how many amazing things they have, and for an affordable price.
Like this tux-inspired jacket that i covet from my friends closet!

After reading through probably a million fashion magazines i realized that the Tux is probably one of the hottest trends ATM and it looks absolutely amazing with the defined shoulder.

Plus, another fashion-forward spring look is sheer clothing! (Check out the first picture, the girl to the left , her shirt is a perfect example).

I know its a bit racy and revealing but it is perfect for the summer heat and it's what's been seen all over the runway.

The blazer below if from Lucky Brand Jeans
The Tux is just another way that women have inspired their clothing on menswear, and i cant think of anything hotter than that.

oh god.. if only looks could kill!

Nautica

The hottest new trends this spring are the Coco Chanel inspired look straight off the runway: Nautica.

Try horizontal stripes, big beach hats, wedged heels, red lipstick and Audrey Hepburn-styled sunglasses.

Give in to the infamous Tommy Hilfiger all-round outfit and get ready to hop onto your sailboat in style.
I know i did! I got these adorable heels at Tommy on sale for about 300 DHS. Plus, they are super comfortable and they are one of the classical items of style.
